It's been one hell of a long time coming, but our 7" Out-of-doors is so close I can smell the vinyl lacquer. I impatiently phoned the record plant out in New York City last week to check on the status of our order. It would seem that some test pressings will arrive on my stoop in N.E. next week. Then, thumbs-up pending, 150 of the real deals shortly thereafter. Then we'll have a jacket stuffing party. They'll be officially released at our release show July 19th at Honey in Northeast Minneapolis.
We've definitely kept our in-house designer/screen printer Ryan Bren busy. First with doing 1,560 pulls at the printing table (math time: 180 record jackets hand-printed in 4-color process means 180 x 4, which is 720. Add another 720 for 180 4-color poster inserts. Now we're at 1440 + 120 sheets of even more inserts in one color. Yup, 1560 checks out). Then last weekend we sic'd him on printing up a bunch of bears he illustrated onto T-shirt pockets I grabbed from thrift stores all over Michigan's Upper Peninsula. Not to mention mailorder stuffers, just in case someone orders one off the infobahn. His duties are just about wrapped up. Then we return him back to a real-life existence.
Meanwhile Matt, Jordan, Cecelia, and I have been gearing up and rehearsing for a summer's worth of shows with some great bands around Minneapolis/St. Paul, with a short solo trip up to the Duluth/Superior region thrown in there for good measure. We'll officially work out kinks in public at Driftwood Char Bar (w/o Cecelia—her other band's got a show) on Friday, June 14th. Shit's getting busy, but we love it. Stay tuned.
